What's Dropping
The US Mint released special Semiquincentennial President Donald J. Trump 2026 $1 coin rolls and bags on September 2nd. This controversial release marks only the second time a sitting U.S. president has been depicted on a coin, the last being Calvin Coolidge in 1926.
The coins feature a bold eagle design with prominent 250th anniversary markings. The standout feature is a quarter-million randomly inserted coins with a special "July 4th" privy mark, creating a chase element for collectors.
When & Where
The drop went live on September 2, 2026 at 12 PM ET exclusively through the US Mint website. Initial stock showed 128,665 rolls and 36,765 bags available at launch. The bags sold out first, with rolls following shortly after on backorder status.
The Play
With retail prices at $61 for rolls and $154.50 for bags, the better value play was actually the bags despite typically lower demand for that format. The price per coin was significantly better in bags, and the privy mark chase meant collectors would be opening packages regardless of format.

Resale Outlook
Our team expects these to resell for 1.5-2x retail based on early listings. Current eBay listings showed rolls at $100-$120 and bags around $300 at time of drop. The controversial nature of the Trump depiction combined with the privy mark chase should maintain interest in the secondary market.
